Figuring out how to ride public transportation can feel overwhelming. Travel training provides all the answers and instructions you need to feel comfortable and confident.

Travel training is a one-on-one program that teaches people how to travel independently on public transportation.

Learn skills like:

  • Reading bus schedules and maps

  • Paying fares

  • Finding bus stops

  • Scheduling a ride

  • Using mobility devices safely

  • Signaling the driver to stop, and recognizing the correct stop

  • How to schedule door-to-door services

  • Boarding and exiting a bus using the steps or accessibility lift

  • Route planning using a bus stop, and how to create an individualized travel plan

Travel training is free for older adults, individuals with disabilities, and children.

What happens after training?

The mobility manager performs a screening assessment to gauge mobility needs and assist riders with finding the best transportation options based on their needs.

The mobility manager can also ride along with you to get you ready to use the transit system independently.
